Together, we will cultivate meaningful support from the outside-in (CBT, DBT, Mindfulness/Contemplative based) and from the inside-out (Jungian Depth Psychology, Psychodynamic, Parts, Somatic Therapy based). With this, you will be given tools to see yourself from a Strength-Based and Solution Focused perspective to find new freedom that will allow your unique qualities to shine through.
I use this acronym of 'One STEP at a Time' to help guide us:
S- Something isn't working. Surrender (in small or big ways) to make room to investigate your inner world (tone of self talk, feelings, parts, beliefs, losses, strategies, dreams, desires)
T - Target a specific event, feeling, belief that is blocking your happiness
E - Engage this specific blocking belief with Adaptive Information Processing techniques.
P - Process toward purpose. Your innate light of purpose will be given room, support, and alignment so that it can become a remover of blocks and your guide to more fulfillment in all of your relationships and in your life.
Through the years, it has been recognized that trauma-response can be the result of subtle and on-going hurts(CPTSD, Attachment, Developmental injury) as well as singular traumatic events (PTSD). Our body's neurobiological response is the same. It cuts off circuits of overwhelming pain. The Adaptive Information Processing techniques of EMDR have been proven to unblock patterns of flight, fright, and freeze and to re-engage these cut-off circuits into the body’s natural healing networks. Bi-lateral movement combined with loving awareness and support (Resourcing) has been shown to be an effective way to Re-Integrate Neuro-networks back to wholeness, health, and well-being.
When we connect creativity to whatever is going on inside us, it becomes art, without judgement, without explanation. For example if we are feeling small, insignificant, and depressed, we can creatively express that through movement, music, words, visual art, sounds, and we may discover that we have created the blues. Creativity is most meaningful when it is personal, intimate, and genuine. It paradoxically becomes most universal in just these moments as well. With that, we feel at home with ourselves and at home with our family of humanity, with so much that we share. This is often just exactly what we need. (To feel entirely okay being exactly ourselves, to feel, know, and understand our own unique signature/our qualities and life story while simultaneously feeling that we belong to/are part of something bigger /something universal, deeply layered, vast and profound.)
What is creativity without sorrow and what is sorrow without creativity? Creativity helps us greet our mistakes, our shadow, loss, and hurt and through that gain strength in our goodness, truth, beauty, joy, honesty, and purpose. Creatively expressing can help finish something left unfinished, help fix a wrong, remove a block, bring understanding, and so much more.
